Sydney African Film Festival 2007

I came across this postcard whilst waiting for my daily coffee hit. How cool are his sunnies?!

It's for the 2007 Sydney African Film Festival being held in collaboration with the New York African Film Festival. It will run from the 19th to 21st of October 2007 at the Chauvel Cinema, Paddington Town Hall (Cnr Oxford St & Oatley Rd Paddington).

Even more reason to go is that all the money raised goes to Hands of Help who work to advance education and health care in countries such as Uganda and Kenya.

Introduction

I came across the phrase "Everyday Multiculturalism" whilst researching for an article. It was the name of a conference run by the Centre for Research on Social Inclusion at Macquarie University in 2006, where researchers presented their research exploring everyday experiences of cultural diversity and difference.

It made me think about the concept of multiculturalism and what my experience of it was. As a young Vietnamese-Australian woman, there have been many moments when I have felt that I am living in a rich, culture-abundant country, and other times when I feel alienated, unrepresented and marginalised.

So I thought this assignment for Online Journalism 1 was a great way for me to write, wonder and get feedback about the bits and pieces which catch my eye.
