Introduction

I came across the phrase "Everyday Multiculturalism" whilst researching for an article. It was the name of a conference run by the Centre for Research on Social Inclusion at Macquarie University in 2006, where researchers presented their research exploring everyday experiences of cultural diversity and difference.

It made me think about the concept of multiculturalism and what my experience of it was. As a young Vietnamese-Australian woman, there have been many moments when I have felt that I am living in a rich, culture-abundant country, and other times when I feel alienated, unrepresented and marginalised.

So I thought this assignment for Online Journalism 1 was a great way for me to write, wonder and get feedback about the bits and pieces which catch my eye.

Hey this sounds like a great idea for a blog as well as a good way of examining multiculturalism in Australia as it is how cultural diversity exists and is accepted in an everyday level that is the most important because it is how people are able to exist and go about their daily lives that often has the most impact. Well thats my thoughts, looking forward to future blog entires!
